Contours of Perception - Abstract Photography

Contours of Perception is a set of abstract photography works that delve into the interplay of form, material quality, and identity.

The point of form research is to see and wonder what makes you think and what make things with deep attention. And then to learn the relationship between what you do and then make something further. Imagine what you make and how you and the rest of the world see it. It is an endless cycle, it never stops, it is the foundation for everything else you will do in this form studio”. —— Martin Venezky.

The method

With a set of objects of pen, pizza cutter, eraser, I start to observe and play with the quality it communicates with their function, material, form and responds to the environment.

Drawing inspiration from both organic and architectural motifs, each photograph seeks to challenge the viewer's understanding of the tangible, urging them to reconsider the familiar and re-evaluate the boundaries of the self. By juxtaposing contrasting textures and morphologies, this series becomes an exploration of the many layers that constitute our understanding of identity, both intrinsic and extrinsic.

With an emphasis on tactile qualities, the photos aim to provoke an almost palpable response, bridging the gap between the observer and the observed, and prompting the viewer to confront and perhaps redefine their own sense of self.
