The Spark Awards - the world’s most modern design competition and foremost a community of designers and creative people, bound together by the idea that Design can make positive change in the world.
Solux as the selected winner project of Forecast Forum - an international platform at Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin. 2015. The tandem have been announced: Wendy Di Wang and Markus Diebel, they will accompany in their further development until the Forecast Festival.

ABOUT
Forecast offers insights into artistic production processes in a diverse variety of genres. As an international platform for knowledge transfer, Forecast reveals how creative decisions are reached and gives young talents from all over the world the opportunity to realize their own projects with the support of renowned mentors. More than 360 applicants from 70 countries responded to the international call for proposals and submitted their project ideas to Forecast.
FORECAST FESTIVAL
From September 2015 to February 2016, the selected participants will get the opportunity to work closely with a personal mentor. They will be able to establish a productive relationship with that mentor and benefit from this unique form of empowerment. Each tandem will find its own way to collaborate and advance the project. Between 26 and 28 February, the tandems will present each of their projects during the Forecast Festival at the HKW: Performances, presentations or installations in any format will be showcased for the public.
FORECAST FORUM
The HKW became a test lab and backdrop for their presentations and invited the public to experience the project proposals as models, videos or performances. In public discussions, the participants and mentors addressed contemporary issues in their respective fields, thereby making Forecast a shared space to come together and exchange views. At the end of the Forecast Forum, the mentors each selected one talent who they will work with in tandems to realize their proposed projects.
The winner was bipool, composed solely of international women: Wendy Di Wang (Industrial Design 2015), Qian Mao (Graphic Design 2015) Xiaofei Liu (Graphic Design 2015) and Jingjing Yang (Graphic Design 2015) .
The team's idea was to create a formal infrastructure for bicycle commute routes. Along with a unique logo, they designed bus stop-like meeting points for bipool users, where a map of the route and departure times would be posted to encourage cyclists to meet up and travel together.
The team also conceived a mobile app that would track persons who bike as well as mapping commonly used routes to popular locations.
The bipool concept is based on the notion of safety in numbers. By increasing bicyclist visibility, it encourages people to bike when they might otherwise be inclined to drive. Increasing the number of cyclists on the road creates a cloak of safety for both novice and veteran cyclists.
The team received $1,500 and will work with SVBC, CCA, and the RSST to prepare a presentation for local jurisdictions and businesses in Silicon Valley.
