The 25th Games of Shandong, China

Branding, Visual system and Product design, 2020 -2022

My role: Design lead.

Responsibility: 1. Organize and lead the design tasks and set up design goals. 2. Communicate with clients to understand their needs. 3. Transform the needs of clients to design solutions. 4. Make plans, research and style board, ideation sketch for the project. 5. Supervise the working process and result. 6. Get hands-on, detailed visual design files and prototypes.

In 2022, Rizhao City will host the largest sports competition game in Shandong Province. This event is organizing by the city of Rizhao, the province of Shandong, the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee, and the Shandong Sports Authority. My team and I responded to the design and creation of the visual branding system and product design for this event.

Rizhao city is famous for surrounding by mountains, rivers, and mountains. In recent years, Rizhao City has fully developed its unique advantages in sports and hosted near 200 provincial-level sports events. Sports has become an important city symbol and the cultural mark of Rizhao.

Part1 : Emblem Visual System and Usage Guide Book

In the Chinese myth, phenix is the bird that from the sky, it is the representation of sun, brightness, justice and happiness. The shape of this Emblem combines the shape of a phenix and number “25” as the 25th games in the city of Rizhao.

Variation of the Emblem

The visual system designed for this event combines Chinese characters, numbers, sunbirds, torches, sails, waves and other elements. It represents the athletes are like flying sunbirds courageously composing the new glory of Shandong sports development in the new era.

Inspiration source : natural environment of the city Rizhao

Rizhao (日照) city, as known as “the city that illuminated by the sun”.

Rizhao is famous for surrounding by mountains, rivers, and mountains. Beautiful sun rise and view of pacific ocean.

Ocean, mountain, phenix of the fire and sun, those elements that related to Rizhao City are also funded in the emblem design.
